Kim Rivera

Department Manager

“I am passionate about my job, each project I work on, and the clients I serve.  I enjoy challenging work and finding the right solutions for our client’s needs.  I understand the value of providing a high-level of service and responsiveness and really strive to support in any way that I can.” – Kim Rivera, PE

Meet Kim, our adventure seeker! She is one of our Senior Project Managers in our Civil/Environmental discipline. She has 16 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering. She has managed many major NASA KSC projects, including the NASA KSC Crawlerway Foundation and Crawler Compatibility Studies, which were awarded the 2011 ASCE Florida Section Project of the Year Award, and the Design to Restore KSC Coastal Shoreline. Ms. Rivera also maintains accreditation as an asbestos inspector in the State of Florida. She has performed asbestos, heavy metal, polychlorinated biphenyls and other hazardous materials assessment for numerous NASA and municipal demolition design projects. She earned her Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering from the University of Central Florida.

Cool Projects: I’ve really enjoyed the NASA Crawlerway projects. It has consisted of a multitude of studies over the past 10+ years to evaluate the condition of the Crawlerway to support KSC’s future flight program. I also liked getting to manage NASA’s Sand Dune Restoration and the Design of Scour Protection around KSC Bridges. It was great knowing that we are part of the team and we could help the NASA’s space program continue to succeed. It’s been really cool to work on such unique and challenging projects and going out to the Kennedy Space Center’s private beach for work was unbeatable.

Fun Fact: I won state and national gymnastics titles when I was younger. I think I went to the gym more than I went to school – probably around 35 hours a week.
