Climate Adaptation Plan

NASA

Coolness Factor:

The project included a large stakeholder group representing many areas of responsibility across Kennedy Space Center. Coastal assessment. Under future conditions way- through-wave run up was important due to location sensitivity.

Description:

This study collected scientific climate change data and modeling tools developed by various agencies and organization, which were evaluated from an engineering perspective, and developed a standardized process that will be used to project climate change effects to the Kennedy Space Center until 2080. After identifying that Sea Level Rise will increase risk far more than rainfall changes and other threats, we developed three Sea Level Rise scenarios for the 2020s, 2050s, and 2080s, and applied the results to facilities on the Kennedy Space Center. Adaptation measures, ROM costs, and other recommendations were developed for identified vulnerabilities.
