Upcoming Event: Water For People Fundraiser

“2.1 billion people around the world don’t have access to safe water and 4.5 billion lack access to adequate sanitation. Women and children spend more than four hours walking for water each day, and more than 840,000 people die each year from water-related diseases…” Water For People is on a mission to change all of that.

As Chair of the FSAWWA Region IV Water For People Committee, Sean Menard, Jones Edmunds Infrastructure Engineer Intern, is very passionate about the good work Water for People is doing in nine countries across 4 continents to help those in need. Water For People promotes developing high-quality drinking water and sanitation services, accessible to all, and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments.

“Water For People works with communities to build water infrastructure. Our committee provides educational outreach and raises funds to help these communities build water infrastructure and keep it sustainable after it has been put in place,” says Sean. “What makes Water For People unique from other water charities is that, in addition to implementing the infrastructure as most, Water For People works directly with communities and governments to ensure that they understand how to work on the infrastructure after they’ve left to ensure it is sustainable and why it is so important to have clean drinking water and sanitation.”

The Region IV Annual Water For People Fundraiser will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019, from 5:30-9:30pm at the Rock Brothers Brewing (1901 N 15th St. Tampa, FL 33605) if anyone is interested in attending and supporting this great cause.
