Construction Administrator Chris Seufert recently volunteered in the Paint Your Heart Out Tampa event. At this year’s event, Chris worked in the Command Center, handling incoming calls for materials to support teams by delivering additional paint and supplies to those in need.
“My involvement with Paint Your Heart Out Tampa (PYHOT) began in 2022 when I volunteered to paint a home and quickly took on the role of a “paint paramedic,” rushing to another site to aid a team that was behind schedule,” said Chris. “This experience captivated me, leading me to apply for a board/steering committee position.”
Chris’s participation in this community-driven initiative enhances Jones Edmunds’ corporate social responsibility and team cohesion and positively contributes to the community. This perfectly aligns with our company’s core value of “Service” by demonstrating a genuine commitment to making a meaningful impact.
PAINT YOUR HEART OUT, TAMPA! is a yearly volunteer initiative launched in 1988 to paint the homes of low-income elderly residents in Tampa, inspired by a similar program in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Operating as a 501c3 non-profit, it relies solely on private contributions and donations of materials like paint and equipment. Organized by a dedicated Steering Committee, the program selects homes based on need, adhering to federal guidelines, and recruits diverse teams of volunteers from various backgrounds to paint, clean, and beautify neighborhoods. Professional painters assist volunteers on Paint Day, where thousands gather to transform homes and provide additional services like trash removal and wheelchair ramps. The program’s success has led to its expansion into other cities, with a vision of fostering community engagement through similar initiatives nationwide. Over 3,300 homes have been painted, with ongoing demand from homeowners and volunteers eager to participate.
