The University of Florida’s Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment (ESSIE) is at the cutting edge of integrating civil, coastal, oceanographic, and environmental engineering sciences and pioneers research, education, and sustainable engineering technologies.
ESSIE holds a career showcase twice yearly, in fall and spring, giving ESSIE students and alumni the opportunity to meet with potential employers. This year’s fall event “ESSIE Evening with Industry” event was held on September 24, 2019, in the Evans Champions Club inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Jones Edmunds’ Human Resource associates, Ginger Hamner, CRCMP – HR Director and Jeanna Grebinger – HR Recruiter, participated in the career showcase along with Brian Icerman, PE – Managing Director of our Infrastructure Department; Suzi Kaufman, PE – Senior Manager of our GIS/Ecology and Water Resources Department; and Tobin McKnight, PE, BCEE – our Solid Waste Department Manager.
Our team received several dozen r̩sum̩s from students seeking internship opportunities, as well as from soon-to-be graduates who are gathering leads they can contact in hope of starting their careers.
Ginger shared that our team truly enjoyed meeting the students and graduates, and all were excited to share with the coming generation of engineers and scientists who we are, what we do, and why we are the employer of choice! Feedback received from the engineering majors in attendance was that they enjoyed being able to speak with our engineers and ask specific questions on projects and also meeting with our Human Resources staff to ask general questions and receive résumé advice.
