Jones Edmunds participated in a lot of legislative conference activity during the week of March 15. On St. Patrick’s Day, Jones Edmunds Senior Vice Presidents Brian Icerman and Terri Lowery participated in the Florida Association of Counties hybrid Legislative Day. The day was a combination of in-person and virtual presentations from a variety of guests including FDOT Secretary Kevin Thibault, Florida Secretary of Commerce Jamal Sowell, Senator Bobby Powell, and many others as well as virtual and in-person legislative meetings. Wednesday evening the Small County Coalition hosted an outdoor reception that facilitated some reconnection of old friends and introduction of some new ones.
On Thursday and Friday (March 18 and 19), Terri and Brian participated in the FSAWWA and FWEA Utility Council’s joint virtual Legislative Fly-in. This all-virtual event included a presentation by FDEP Deputy Secretary John Truitt, a Utility 101 Workshop targeted at elected official education, and multiple meetings with legislators and their staff to discuss challenges and issues utilities face associated with current and potential state legislation and their accompanying regulations.
