The combination of sea level rise and more frequent and stronger storms is a growing threat to Sarasota County’s floodplain and coastal infrastructure. As a subconsultant to Taylor Engineering, Jones Edmunds performed a coastal and riverine compound flooding analysis for the County’s significant regional assets. To make the flooding analysis more efficient, the team combined 12 individual models into a single countywide model containing over 20,000 junctions and 40,000 links. The results were used to conduct a comprehensive Vulnerability Assessment that identified and prioritized which critical assets are at risk of future coastal and inland flooding.
