At the ASCE Florida Section Annual Conference, New River Solid Waste Authority and OPAL Fuels won the prestigious Project of the Year for 2023. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to their hard work and dedication to turning landfill gas into renewable pipeline-ready gas. This project is the first in Florida to convert landfill gas into pipeline-quality natural gas. It is also the first landfill to interconnect to the Florida Gas Transmission pipeline and inject processed landfill gas.
“This is wonderful recognition for New River and the developer OPAL Fuels,” said Project Manager Carol Sawyer. “New River was very committed to making this project a success; their leadership and staff were all in on this effort and deserve much credit for this accomplishment. Congratulations on leading the way again in the solid waste industry! “
