South Whitney and W. King Streets Drainage Improvement Project

City of St. Augustine

Coolness Factor:

This project will eliminate flooding for the 100-year FEMA flood zone by elevating South Whitney Street and W. King Street and increasing the size of the box culverts at South Whitney Street.

Jones Edmunds prepared plans that elevated W. King Street and South Whitney Street and doubled the size of the box culvert. South Whitney and W. King Streets was funded through a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) award after Hurricane Matthew. This project included a redesign of the storm sewer system. We prepared an engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost and worked with the City on public outreach. We secured permits from the St. Johns River Water Management District and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
