Crane Creek M-1 Canal Flow Restoration

St. Johns River Water Management District

Coolness Factor:

The Crane Creek / M-1 Canal Project re-routes water in the M-1 Canal westward for treatment in a constructed stormwater treatment area prior to discharging to the St. Johns River. The project prevents 24,000 lb/yr of total nitrogen from flowing or “loading” to the Indian River Lagoon and provides a water supply benefit by restoring 7 million gallons of freshwater flow per day.

Description:

Jones Edmunds supported SJRWMD with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, preliminary and final design, and permitting of flow restoration improvements associated with the Crane Creek and M-1 Canal Flow Restoration Project. Jones Edmunds also provided Engineering Services During Construction and supported bidding and construction. This project achieves water-quality goals, contributing to ecological restoration in the Indian River Lagoon and providing water-supply benefits to the St. Johns River.
