This system will pilot test the ability to disinfect and recharge raw surface water at Flatford Swamp. If successful, a larger recharge project could be implemented to slow salt-water intrusion and recovery water levels in the most impacted areas.
Description:
Jones Edmunds, with ASRus completed the design of a surface water aquifer recharge project at Flatford Swamp. This project is to evaluate the feasibility of using recharge wells to recharge the Most Impacted Area of the Upper Floridan Aquifer in the Southern Water Use Caution Area (SWUCA) and slow salt-water intrusion, while also restoring the natural hydroperiod of Flatford Swamp. The Team completed the permitting and design of the aquifer recharge system and is overseeing the construction and testing.
